Hi, I’m Phil, founder of SW Sustainability.

I’ve spent the past 13 years helping businesses, universities, charities, and social enterprises bring sustainability to life in a way that feels real, inspiring, and above all achievable. My approach is centred in how sustainability impacts people, and how we can collaborate because real change only happens when everyone feels part of the journey.

I’ve built and led teams, mentored colleagues and clients, designed and written strategies, and supported senior leaders to see sustainability as a way to ensure that their business thrives in an uncertain future. I love helping people to understand jargon and concepts in plain English, and breaking down big targets into achievable projects and practical steps that make sense.

For me, sustainability is about going on a journey together. There are over 5.5 million small and medium sized businesses in the UK representing 99% of all companies. A lot of work over the last 5 years has rightly gone into supporting large corporates with big carbon footprints to set targets and decarbonise. However, what this approach has missed is that small and medium sized businesses make up the backbone of those supply chain emissions. It is all well and good setting targets, however, without the right skills, knowledge, and action across the value chain decarbonisation will be impossible.

This is why SW Sustainability exists. We help small and medium sized businesses drive value from sustainability, set strategies that are right for them, engage staff and supply chains, take action to protect nature, and build resilience in an uncertain future.
